Day 48: Father's Day

Today was Father's day. I was supposed to have baseball practice, but it was canceled because of the holiday. Then, my dad decided to bring us to the batting cages, but they were closed. Next door, there was a place for go-kart racing, but we would have to wait 4 hours to race, so we left.

On Modern Americans: Ignorance

Contrary to popular belief, idiocy  is not the same as ignorance. Idiocy is the inability to reason, and ignorance is the lack of knowledge. 15% of American teens don't know that the Declaration of Independence of adopted on July 4, 1776. The funny thing about this is that these are native-born Americans. This is because immigrants would have to study all about the government to pass the test, but natives can just be ignorant and still be fine. 35% of Americans don't know that there are 9 justices on the Supreme Court. This has the same reason as the last problem. 75% of children aged 6 to 12 years cannot read clocks. This article says "Don't worry—you're not alone." Even though this is true, it is still worrying matter, even though the article tells you not to worry, because reading a clock is a very simple thing that a lot of kids learn in first and second grade.
